BATTLEWORKS Battleworks makes its Joyce debut with an eclectic program of exhilarating modern dance by choreographer Robert Battle. His trademark physicality and wit will be on display in an exciting world premiere with music by Philip Hamilton, plus the New York premiere of “Communion,” and audience favorites including “Promenade.” On Battleworks’ Jul. 6, 8, and 9 performances, PARADIGM will perform “A Thin Frost” as guest artists. Battleworks will perform their piece “Strange Humors” as guest artists on PARADIGM performances Jul. 7, 8, and 9. Jul. 6 and 8 at 8 p.m., Jul. 9 at 2 p.m. $30 at 212-242-0800.

PARADIGM The veteran dancers of PARADIGM demonstrate the eloquence of experience. Seven performers with established reputations—as members of Martha Graham, Alvin Ailey, Lester Horton, Alwin Nikolais and Merce Cunningham’s companies—bring their collective dynamism to new dances ranging from kinetic abstraction to non-narrative drama. The program includes world premieres by Carmen deLavallade, Gus Solomons, jr., Wally Cardona, and Larry Keigwin, as well as the New York premiere of “Texture” by Kay Cummings.
