To honor and celebrate the achievements and personal struggles of Latina lesbian and bisexual women and the organizations devoted to improving the socio-cultural status of women, LLEGO, a Latino LGBT advocacy group, is sponsoring a breakfast, “Es el Tiempo de Nuestras Doñas” on Sunday, January 25.
The breakfast will honor Ana Oliveira, executive director of Gay Men’s Health Crisis, and Carmen Vazquez, deputy executive director of the Empire State Pride Agenda. Manhattan City Councilmember Margarita Lopez will deliver the keynote address and comedienne Marga Gomez will offer late morning laughs.
A contribution of $25 or more is encouraged. All proceeds will help support LLEGO’s programs and services affecting women’s health and well-being—programs like BASTA (a domestic violence capacity building assistance program)—as well as the upcoming Latina Lesbian Health Summit in Washington, D.C., in April, 2004.
For reservations, contact Marta Alvarado at malvarado@llego.org or 888 633 8320, ext. 113. The event will be held at the Hilton Times Square, 234 W. 42nd St. at 11 a.m.
