WOW Moves Dance Fest presents an eight-week winter festival of burlesque, movement theater, and dance. The festival starts with Erika Bernabei’s “Brrrrr-lesque,” billed as a night in a 1920’s burlesque joint. Week 2 features Anne Gadwa’s “The Monster Baby Project,” an adaptation of the disturbing and fascinating solo “I Dream of Monster Babies,” recently presented on the Fresh Tracks program at DTW. Choreographers Jen Abrams, Risa Jaroslow, and Eva Lawrence share weeks three and four, with other guests, and Dora Arreola and Andrea Asssaf’s “Slain,” a dance theater work about female orgasm, hysteria, and the culpability of the Christian Church runs for three weeks to close the festival.WOW Café Theater, 59-61 E 4th St., 4th Fl. between Bowery and 2nd Ave. Tickets are $12/$10 for students. Chinese Folk Dance Company celebrates the Year of the Monkey with five company premieres at the 19th Lunar New Year Festival. James Sewell Ballet presents the NY premiere of “Barrage,” a 30-minute improvisational ballet, set to music by Handel, Tchaikovsky, and Fat Boy Slim, among others. David Gordon’s Pick Up Performance Company presents “Dancing Henry Five,” a postmodern spin on William Shakespeare’s “Henry V” with famous recorded voices speaking sections of the text, voice-over narration by Valda Setterfield, and music by William Walton.
