Aristophanes in Birdonia David Gordon & the Pick Up Performance Co. present a new work—a politicomic theater/dance adaptation of “The Birds” by Aristophanes. Two Greek chaps (renamed Stan and Ollie) exit Athens (renamed America, re-renamed Hysterica) to co-erect with the birds a new utopia in the sky (renamed Birdonia) “Hail, hail, Birdonia!!” because “faith based initiatives” (formerly the separation of church and state) and celebrity and celebrity trials (guilty until proved innocent) obsess government and media and preemptive strikes (formerly diplomacy) rule the roost resulting in un(war)ranted war.
