Dancing to Finally Cure AIDS

On December 11, “Move Against AIDS,” a fund-raiser sponsored by MZA Events to benefit the Gay Men’s Health Crisis, raised over $750,000 from participants who gathered financial pledges from friends and families and then convened at the Jacob K. Javits Center and danced the night away.

The event included participants of all ages from diverse backgrounds in a resurgence of the dance-a-thon, what had once been a popular fund-raising tool during the grimmest era of the AIDS era when thousands of New Yorkers succumbed to the disease.

The five-hour gala was a star-studded evening of entertainment and raising consciousness, with celebrities like Rosie Perez and Wilson Cruz, on the left, stalwart advocates of AIDS awareness, hamming it up for the crowd of thousands, some of whom are pictured.
