Leslie Hagen, dismissed from the Bush Justice Department for being a lesbian last April, has been hired by the Obama administration to return to her job at the department's Executive Office for US Attorneys, National Public Radio reported. She had been fired by Monica Goodling, the senior counsel to Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez, despite excellent performance ratings, when it became known she was lesbian. According to NPR, she won her job back last year after a national search to fill her position, but no one from Bush Justice apologized for what happened to her, and she has been stuck with thousands of dollars in attorneys' fees from fighting her dismissal. Her attorney “hopes the new attorney general [Eric Holder] will take a different view.”
