Hundreds of people gathered in Harlem on May 5 to raise awareness of the fight for women’s health and HIV equity at the 20th annual Women as the Face of AIDS Summit.

The event was hosted by Iris House, which utilizes comprehensive support, prevention, and education services for women, families, and underserved populations affected by HIV/AIDS in a family-centered environment.

Iris House reminded attendees of the urgent need to address health disparities at a time when women represent nearly one in five new HIV diagnoses in the US. Among them, 50% of them are Black women, the organization noted.

Led by Iris House executive director Ingrid Floyd, the event featured speeches, workshops, and award presentations.
