Gay City News and Schneps Media seek a part-time intern to report on the LGBTQ community in New York City and beyond.

This internship allows students to gain critical experience reporting on the ground, filing stories, taking photos and videos, and more. The intern would cover areas relevant to the LGBTQ community — including crime, politics, health, and entertainment — while building critical reporting and newsgathering skills.

The internship also gives students an opportunity to gain experience and guidance in multiple areas of journalism, including conducting interviews, researching, developing story angles, and working on a deadline.

Gay City News has an online website updated with content throughout the week and a biweekly print newspaper distributed throughout the city.

We welcome applicants majoring in journalism or a related field. Interns can have flexible schedules to work around classes and other obligations. The position primarily involves remote work, but interns are required to cover in-person events in NYC.

The internships typically fit within a typical semester schedule, but each situation can be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
