The Big Mix – LGBTQIA+ Pride
Description:
A Three-Week, Three-Holiday, One-of-a-Kind Performance Party
This summer, discover a new kind of entertainment: a performance that’s part party, part performance art, part vaudeville, part variety show, and a whole new way to look at three of our most joyous, most provocative, most historically challenging and most uniquely American holidays.
Conceived and directed by Little Island Artist-in-Residence Tina Landau, each week of The Big Mix will feature our triple-threat ensemble including Marla Louissaint, Zach McNally, Ianne Fields Stewart, Allan K. Washington, and swing Esco Jouléy, plus our house band led by Musical Director Kimberly Grigsby. The Big Mix –LGBTQIA+ Pride will be hosted by RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Peppermint (6/23 & 6/24) and Costume Designer Qween Jean (6/25) with special acts from singer-songwriter Chanese Elifé, circus artists Ben Franklin & Joshua Dean, and Pride Puppets, plus newly commissioned work from Ronvé O’Daniel. Additional artists will be announced at a later date.
You will come to be thrilled and amazed, and you will leave moved and inspired. There is a boundless mosaic of great artists, creators, and performers in our land, and what better way for them to display their gifts than to show us how, through these holidays, we strive to become a better people and a more perfect union.
